WORKSHOPS, COURSES, TEACHER TRAINING CERTIFICATIONS

The Academy offers a wide variety of workshops, courses and certification programs worldwide.

Tutu Workshop will be offered twice per year. This workshop lasts 6 weeks, and meets once a week for two to four hours, depending on need. Classical tutu construction will be taught in the first course, and romantic tutu construction will be taught in the second course. The method of construction for the bodice in each of these courses is based on the design and construction method employed by Peter Farmer of the Royal Ballet and May Ishimoto, former head costumer of American Ballet Theatre. This skill is extremely valuable and becomes marketable.

Adult and Parent courses in Stage Management, Event Planning, Arts Administration, Sound Board, Lighting, Carpentry for Stage and Studio Management will be taught to members of the general public as well. This is designed to produce a group of individuals who can work on Academy performances, recitals, and other community theater productions.

Academy Method International Teacher Certification Program (ITC) is offered to teaching candidates worldwide. Certification is based on accrued credit hours, observed classes taught by candidates, required number of teaching hours (by class), written examinations, dissertations and oral defense of those papers.

Academy Method Body Mechanics Program, is a two-week Body Mechanics intensive training program and an introduction to the International Teacher Certification Program offered by The Margot Fonteyn Academy of Ballet. This book contains the basic principles of human movement, and 48 training exercises taken from classical ballet's 460-year history. These exercises are not the ones done in daily class by ballet dancers, but are selected from the 65 exercises professional dancers use outside of their ballet training to keep their bodies fit, strong, flexible and in perfect condition.
